What is DHEA?

Produced in the adrenal glands, DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is essential for immune system function, protects against Alzheimer’s Disease, and has been correlated with longevity. DHEA is also a precursor of the sex hormones and is an important building block for the production of these hormones. DHEA has declined markedly by age 40 in both men and women.
